A painting bought for $5 at a bric-a-brac sale is worth millions.

A major windfall for the people who bought a $5 painting at a Northland bric-a-brac sale, it could be worth thousands of dollars.

The painting by renowned Canadian artist Lawren Harris will be auctioned in Hamilton tonight.
Director of Fine Art Society New Zealand, Grant Bezett, says Harris's works are highly sought-after, and one of his paintings sold for nearly three-million Canadian dollars earlier this year.

He says this piece is valued at $20,000-$50,000, but it could fetch far more.

He says it's big news in Canada as people can't believe that something this valuable was bought for just $5.
