Nine paintings by Winslow Homer and other American artists are being donated to the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk.

The Virginian-Pilot reports that the museum announced the donations by Jane Batten of Virginia Beach on Wednesday.

The works include Homer's "Farmer with a Pitchfork," Thomas Hart Benton's "Picnic" and Albert Bierstadt's "Minehaha Falls." They will go on view Jan. 26.

Batten and her late husband, Landmark Communications founder Frank Batten Sr., collected the paintings. Landmark is now Landmark Media Enterprises LLC.
