Colombian artist Fernando Botero has donated one of his works, worth 1 million euros, to the Budapest Museum of Fine Arts, the museum told MTI on Tuesday.

The painting made in 1982 is entitled "Self Portrait" and depicts Botero as a toreador, said spokesman Zoltan Levay.

It is currently on display at the exhibition showing a large collection of the artist's works for the first time in Hungary, he said.

Botero, 78, best known for his robust and exaggerated colorful human figures, has also consented to extending the exhibition until February 20, Levay said.

The exhibition, which opened last September, presents 53 canvases and five bronze statues made over the past 20 years. It presents all of his main themes, including human feebleness and sin, as well as day-to-day life with bull-fights and circuses.

The Budapest exhibition has so far attracted over 60,000 visitors.
